7 Months - This month we went down to Lake LBJ to visit Jack and Caroline's cousins and Grandma and Grandpa. We had the best time getting to see them and we really appreciated having kids around to wear Jack out all day. We got some time on a boat, lots of fishing, and some kayaking during the few days we were there. The kids were exhausted by the end of the day and the parents all earned some adult beverages once the kids were asleep. Jack has told us multiple times since then how much he wants to go back to the lakehouse with his cousins.
Caroline now has two teeth on the bottom and has declared a truce on biting things around the house, for now. She loves any kind of fruit puree and ignores all my pleas to teach her the "more" sign and just bangs her hands on the table when she wants another bite. She has not mastered crawling yet (which I am more than fine with...less stuff to have to pick up), but has started rolling to her belly and scooting backwards when she flails her arms and legs about. She has found her voice and does little yells every once in awhile to get attention or when she gets stuck somewhere and is ready for someone to pick her up. She has started saying "dadadadadadadadadada", which I will not be counting as her first word because 1) it isn't directed to David and 2) he already got the first word with Jack! Caroline loves to pull my hair, especially when nursing, and if she can't reach my hair she will just claw at my neck haphazardly. It is beginning to look like we have a feral cat living in our house, based on the scars on my neck, so I now nurse with a scarf around my neck so that she can play with the tassels. (Sidenote: I am typing this up in October and I STILL am having to use that stupid scarf, at least now it is cool enough to wear).
On the boat with Kyle!
Fishing off the dock with Grandpa. I think they caught some fish and some weird plants....
All the cousins and Aunt Jill and Uncle Jonathan! Jack refused to look at the camera because he was upset we were leaving. We would have happily let him go home with his cousin's at that point ;)
Celebrating Father's Day at Torchy's Tacos
It is a momentous occasion when Oliver willingly sits on your lap
Already stealing my makeup.......
Crazy hair, don't care (although his momma kind of cares and promptly took him for a haircut)
Celebrating 4th of July! We went and watched some fireworks near our house, Jack was done about 15 minutes in....
8 Months - We had a great visit with Great Grandpa and Great Aunt Lori, with a visit to Playstreet Museum, playing board games, and reading books. We have spent some time at our neighborhood pool and spent most of July getting ready for Jack's birthday party.
Caroline has started sticking her tongue out at us like a little turtle, and loves when we do the same back to her. She now has a very shrill yell, a little like what I would imagine a pterodactyl would sound like, which has become her warning shout to us when she wants something done. Unfortunately, if you ignore the first few warning shouts you are in for quite the fit. Caroline has begun crawling, which means we now have to do the first level of baby proofing, moving everything up off the floor. Jack has started to realize that she is instinctively attracted to his toys and has started doing a better job of keeping things in his room. Caroline has also started to wave and gave Great Grandpa a few waves as he was headed back home.
We are loving our neighborhood pool! Even Caroline liked splashing around in the water.
These two have started a little bit of a turf war over this car, each claiming ownership over it the second we go into the playroom.
Caroline has become a little more unsure of solids, she definitely has a more selective palette.
Reading books with Geat Grandpa after Dad got home from work.
Playstreet with Great Grandpa!
I had been waiting for these updates!
